You know, even though Canadian pennies look almost exactly like American pennies, I like ours better. They've got that cute dotted line around the edges, whereas American ones are very plain. But then, the only American penny I can find is from 1990 (woo!), so maybe they've updated its image.<-- Look! A Canadian penny!
I wonder why we have a picture of the Queen on ours, and the Americans have who I assume is Lincoln. Why not use their current president? I mean, I guess they can only be president for eight years, thus necessitating a complete makeover for the coin. But from my understanding, it's not a difficult process.
Perhaps they're afraid that someone who didn't vote for the president, i.e. Obama, might refuse to use the Obama penny, and this would throw capitalism as we know it into disarray. Perhaps the current economic crisis is actually because they tried making an Obama coin, but the Republicans refused to touch it.
That seems probable.

Our pennies rule =D, and I'm thinking I should get you to teach me a thing or two about Economics... your version is WAY more interesting than anything other people are saying.
ReplyDeleteJust out of curiosity...are you going to depart this world before or after pushing me into very same incinerator (that is, if you say the cliched phrase)? ^_^
Yes that seems "probable" indeed. You're dotty I say! >:O But I agree, our coin is definitely cuter~
